Parent's Role

Your Role as a Little Athletics Parent.
As a parent, your support shapes your child’s experience in Little Athletics. This sport offers lifelong benefits—fitness, friendships, and the joy of play. Whether they pursue elite competition or stay active for fun, your encouragement makes a difference. Most importantly, let them enjoy the journey! A positive and supportive approach helps build their love for sport and keeps them engaged for years to come. Parents – Be Part of the Action! Little Athletics relies on parent involvement each week to support our athletes and keep events running smoothly. From raking, spiking, and measuring to recording results, managing age groups, officiating, or helping in the canteen—every role is important. Getting involved not only ensures events can be completed but also allows you to share in your child’s sporting journey. No experience? No problem! There’s a role for everyone, and your help makes all the difference. Chat with your Centre’s committee to find out how you can contribute! Get Involved – Parent Helper Videos Many parents and guardians join their local Centre without knowing how Little Athletics events operate. To help, Little Athletics Queensland has created a How-To Video Series—a collection of short, 60-90 second videos designed to give you the confidence to assist at weekly meets. Check out the videos below and see how you can support our athletes and keep events running smoothly. Track Starting Timing Throws Circle Throws Javelin Jumps High Jump Long Jump/Triple Jump |
